Michael Hirst, famed for the successful series featuring the Vikings, is gearing up to immerse audiences once more in this fascinating realm through an all-new production titled Bloodaxe. This upcoming show will be an independent narrative chronicling the epic saga of Erik Bloodaxe, a formidable Viking king, alongside his wife Gunnhild as they grapple for control of the Norwegian crown during the 10th century.

The series is being developed by Michael Hirst in collaboration with his son, Horatio Hirst, who has shared his excitement about revisiting the realms inspired by Norse traditions. In a recent statement, he conveyed his appreciation for the opportunity to delve back into these compelling legends.
