Final Fantasy 16 Failed to Meet Square Enix’s Expectations

Square Enix President Takashi Kiryu recently disclosed during an earnings call that Final Fantasy 16 has not met its sales targets, similar to the situation with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. According to a report by Bloomberg, Kiryu noted that there was a downturn in sales following the initial launch period of Final Fantasy 16.

It's important to highlight that Final Fantasy 16 was launched exclusively on the PS5. Although a version for PC is underway, the game has not been made available on any other platforms yet. This exclusivity is likely a significant factor in the game not meeting the sales forecasts set by Square Enix.

In a separate discussion, Naoki Yoshida, the producer of Final Fantasy 16, touched upon various projects he has been involved with and expressed his appreciation towards Square Enix for approving the substantial budget required for the high development costs of Final Fantasy 16.

Since its launch in June 2023, Final Fantasy 16 has grown with the addition of two new content packs, called Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide.
