Fortnite is set to launch a fresh no-build mode this week that will resonate with fans of Counter-Strike. Named Fortnite Ballistic, this mode will be available in early access starting December 11. According to the developer team, it significantly deviates from the traditional battle royale format by offering a streamlined 5v5 experience on a specially designed map. Players will engage in this mode from a first-person perspective, contrasting with the typical third-person view of standard battle royale.
Initially, Ballistic will feature one map called Skyline 10, with additional maps slated for rollout in future updates. The primary objective of Ballistic is to install a 'Rift Point Apparatus' at a specific location on the map. For the attacking team, the challenge lies in ensuring that the device detonates while fending off the opposing team. In contrast, defenders must stop the device from going off. A match concludes when one team secures victory after winning seven rounds.
This setup closely resembles the notorious bomb-defusal mode found in Counter-Strike. A noteworthy aspect of Ballistic is the opportunity for players to accumulate credits during gameplay, which can be used to acquire new weapons and gadgets at the beginning of each round. This feature enables both teams' arsenals to gradually develop and enhance throughout the match.
Ballistic will offer both ranked and unranked play options. Additionally, it will support items from players’ Fortnite lockers, with a few exceptions. Players will be able to use skins, back blings, weapon wraps, sprays, and emotes, but certain items like pickaxes, contrails, and instruments will not be permitted.
